Private Chef in Cody
for the working-ranch hosting that Aspen never delivers

Cody is small but distinctive. Gateway to Yellowstone’s eastern entrance, founded by Buffalo Bill Cody, with a strong Western-heritage tourism economy. The luxury layer is dominated by ranch ownership — multi-thousand-acre working ranches owned by UHNW families across Wapiti Valley, the North and South Forks of the Shoshone, and the Greybull Highway corridor. Demographics skew older, more traditional, more discreet than coastal markets.

The defining Cody private-chef pattern is multi-day ranch residency. Summer family vacations of 7–14+ days at remote ranch properties. Fall hunting-camp programs that run a full week with chef-on-ranch coverage. Buffalo Bill Center Patrons Ball-anchored Western-heritage philanthropic hosting.

MileHighCook runs in-residence chef programs across Wapiti Valley ranches, the North and South Forks of the Shoshone, the Greybull Highway corridor, and the Cody historic district. The cuisine vocabulary leans game preparation — elk, antelope, deer, upland birds — a market-specific specialty for fall hunting season. Western steakhouse classics elevated. Ranch-to-table beef. Sophisticated wine programs at the established UHNW ranch tier.

Sourcing is among the hardest in our footprint. Cody is 4 hours from any major distribution hub. Specialty ingredients route through Bozeman or SLC with appropriate lead times. Working from ranch kitchens, basic residential kitchens, and our mobile setup is part of every program. Request a custom proposal →

On-Ranch Cooking,
Game Preparation, Yellowstone Pacing

MileHighCook’s Cody private-chef work is on your ranch, in your home, or in your historic-district residence. Not in a banquet hall. Not at a hotel restaurant. We design menus the day before service, source from regional Wyoming and Montana producers, and cook from your kitchen — or, on remote ranches, our mobile setup.

Daily breakfast through dinner during multi-day residencies. Hunting-camp programs where the menu adjusts to what the party brought back that day. Western steakhouse classics elevated at the technique level. Sophisticated wine programs calibrated to your cellar.

A 10-person Wapiti Valley ranch summer residency before a Yellowstone family trip. An 8-person hunting-camp program on a North Fork Shoshone ranch in October. A 6-person Buffalo Bill Center Patrons Ball after-party at a historic-district home. Our All-Inclusive approach means one transparent quote covering chef time, ingredients, prep, service, and end-of-stay cleanup.

For multi-day ranch residencies and hunting-camp programs (the bulk of our Cody work), pricing is structured per-day and includes chef time, all ingredients (regional Wyoming/Montana producers plus Bozeman/SLC supply chains, with appropriate lead times), prep, daily service, and end-of-stay cleanup. Day rates scale with party size, meal cadence, parallel dietary menus, hunting-camp specifics (game preparation adds prep complexity), and any specialty asks. Cody Stampede week (July 1-4) and fall hunting season are higher-rate windows. We'll detail everything in the All-Inclusive proposal.
Yes — fall hunting-camp programs are a defining Cody category. Cody-area hunting (elk, antelope, mule deer, bighorn sheep, upland birds) is regionally famous, and chef-on-ranch programs running 4-7 days during September-November are standard. We work from ranch kitchens (or our mobile setup on remote properties), prepare game taken by the party that day with required documentation, and serve sit-down dinners that calibrate to whether the group came back at 6pm or 10pm. Game preparation — correct hanging, butchery, aging, and cooking technique for elk, antelope, deer, and upland birds — is part of our chef training, not an improvisation.
Yes — multi-day ranch residencies on remote Wapiti Valley, North and South Fork Shoshone, and Greybull Highway properties are core to our Cody work. We arrive with everything needed (ingredients sourced through Bozeman/SLC with appropriate lead times, equipment for ranch-kitchen or mobile setup, full prep capacity), run daily breakfast-through-dinner programming for 7-14+ day stays, and adjust to ranch life rhythms (early starts, late returns, weather affecting plans). Many of our Cody households are recurring year-over-year arrangements with the same families.
Our All-Inclusive proposal covers chef time, all ingredients (regional Wyoming/Montana producers plus Bozeman/SLC specialty supply chains), prep, cooking, plating, professional table service when staffing for larger dinners, equipment when needed for ranch-kitchen and mobile setups, travel from outside the region (Cody's distance-driven logistics), and end-of-stay or end-of-meal cleanup. No hidden fees or surcharges.
Yes — the Buffalo Bill Center of the West drives a continuous patron and donor hosting calendar at one of the most respected Western art and history museums in the world. The annual Patrons Ball is the major event, but smaller patron-circle dinners, donor-cultivation events, and museum-program hosting run year-round. Adjacent private dinners at Cody town historic homes and Wapiti Valley ranches are recurring categories.
Sourcing is among the hardest in our footprint, similar to Telluride and Moab. Cody is 4 hours from any major distribution hub. Specialty proteins, sushi-grade seafood, premium imports, and out-of-region produce route through Bozeman or SLC supply chains with appropriate lead times. The flip side: regional Wyoming and Montana sourcing is genuinely strong — ranch-to-table beef and lamb, regional game when in season, locally raised proteins from established Wyoming producers. We design proposal timelines around sourcing rather than the other way around.
Yes — confidentiality clauses and NDAs are routine for our Cody work, particularly for multi-generational ranch family hosting where household standards explicitly require it, Buffalo Bill Center patron-circle hosting, and Yellowstone-adjacent corporate retreats (tech and creative-industry firms favor Cody for distinctive offsites). Tell us your standards and we'll execute accordingly.
Yes. The Cody client base skews ranch-and-game-aligned (high-quality animal-protein-centric menus translate naturally from regional sourcing), but parallel dietary requirements across multi-generational families are routine: gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free, vegan parallel options, anti-inflammatory, increasingly GLP-1-aware planning, and complex layered restrictions are all standard.
We serve Wapiti Valley ranches, the North and South Forks of the Shoshone River, the Greybull Highway ranch corridor, the Cody town historic district, and the Yellowstone east-entrance corridor. Travel to remote ranch properties is built into the All-Inclusive proposal — even for 30-60 minute drives to remote ranch sites, you won't see distance surcharges added separately. Sheridan and Jackson Hole are also part of our footprint — see our Sheridan and Jackson Hole pages.
Multi-day Cody ranch residencies and hunting-camp programs run on real life — weather changes, ranch work intervenes, hunting parties come back early or late. We build that flexibility in. Daily menus and meal counts can adjust on 24 hours' notice (with the caveat that Cody's sourcing lead times mean some specialty asks need 48+ hours). For larger structural changes, we'll re-quote transparently.
The honest answer for Cody: it depends on guest count and where the meal happens. Eight to fourteen guests at a private residence almost always points toward a private chef — the cooking happens in front of guests, the menu adjusts to the table, and the cleanup is part of the engagement. Once you're above thirty guests or the venue is a private club or off-site, catering's logistics infrastructure starts pulling its weight. If you're still weighing private chef vs. catering, the comparison page lays out the tradeoffs across five dimensions and includes a short decision tool.
