Private Chef in Vail, Colorado·A Local Lens

Private Chef in Vail
for the ski week that doesn't end in a banquet hall

Vail private-chef work splits two ways. Winter is ski-week residency: 7-10 day Christmas and Presidents' Week stays with three-generation families in Vail Village and Forest Road residences. Peak-week restaurant reservations are functionally impossible — the in-house chef is the answer. Summer is festival and patron season: Bravo! Vail Music Festival, Vail Dance Festival, and the GoPro Mountain Games bring board members and donor-class patrons hosting visiting artists at slopeside chalets and Bachelor Gulch estates.

MileHighCook runs in-residence chef programs across Vail Village, Lionshead, Forest Road (the gold standard for ski-in/ski-out), Cascade Village, East Vail family compounds, and Bachelor Gulch and Beaver Creek-adjacent slopeside residences. Daily breakfast through dinner during multi-night residencies. Wine programs calibrated to the cellar already on-property. A Wagyu, Colorado lamb, elk tenderloin, and bicoastal seafood vocabulary. Altitude at 8,150 ft changes baking, protein cook times, and reduction rates — we calibrate to it. Vacation-rental kitchen variability is real here; we plan around the actual property in advance. In-Residence Cooking,
Built for Your Ski Week

MileHighCook's Vail private-chef work is in your chalet, your rental, or your slopeside residence — not in a banquet hall. We design menus the day before service based on what your household wants to eat, source from regional Colorado producers (Colorado lamb, elk, Rocky Mountain trout) and Front Range supply chains, and cook in your kitchen. Daily breakfast, après-ski lunch, and dinner during multi-night ski-week residencies. Single anniversary dinners with wine pairings calibrated to the cellar. Bravo! Vail patron dinners hosting visiting artists. The format is whatever your stay actually is.

Whether you're hosting a 4-person anniversary at a Vail Village condo, a 14-person three-generation Christmas at a Forest Road estate, an 8-person Bravo! patron dinner during festival week, or a 6-person Bachelor Gulch après-ski celebration, our All-Inclusive approach means one transparent quote covering chef time, ingredients, prep, service, and end-of-stay cleanup. We work in private chalets, vacation rentals, slopeside residences (Four Seasons, Solaris penthouses, the Lodge at Vail, Manor Vail), and ranch and compound properties throughout the Vail Valley.

The MileHighCook Difference

Three Principles, Every Event

While most marketplaces, resort F&B teams, and volume operators rely on coordinators or generic templates, every MileHighCook event is built around three principles.

One Chef. One Owner.

Chef Steve oversees every event personally. Not a coordinator, not a sub-contractor. The person who plans your event is the person responsible for it.

For multi-night ski-week residencies (the bulk of our Vail winter work), pricing is structured per-day and includes chef time, all ingredients sourced through Front Range supply chains and regional Colorado producers, prep, daily service, and end-of-stay cleanup. Day rates scale with party size, meal cadence (breakfast-only vs. all three meals plus après-ski lunch), and any specialty asks (wine pairings, parallel dietary menus, festival-week hosting). Christmas-New Year and Presidents' Week rates are higher given the demand window. We'll detail everything in the All-Inclusive proposal — no surprise add-ons mid-stay.
Vail sits at 8,150 ft — one of the higher resort elevations in our footprint — and altitude directly affects protein cook timing, baked-good rise, reduction rates, and the science of multi-course pacing. Our chef team is trained on altitude-adjusted technique. Across a multi-night residency this matters for everything from sourdough rise (slower) to steak rest times (different) to how reductions concentrate (faster) — the kind of detail you don't notice when it's right but immediately notice when it isn't.
Yes — Christmas-New Year and Presidents' Week are our highest-demand Vail windows, and three-generation family hosting in 7-10 day arcs is a defining category. We can scale chef coverage across the window, run daily breakfast-through-dinner programming with après-ski lunch built in, and handle rotating houseguest counts as family members come and go through the week. Restaurant reservations during peak weeks are functionally impossible in Vail; the in-house chef is the answer most families end up at.
Our All-Inclusive proposal covers chef time, all ingredients (regional Colorado producers and Front Range supply chains), prep, cooking, plating, professional table service when staffing for larger dinners, equipment when needed for vacation-rental kitchens that aren't catering-spec, travel across the Vail Valley, and end-of-stay or end-of-meal cleanup. No hidden fees or surcharges.
Yes — festival-week patron and donor hosting is a defined Vail summer category. Bravo! Vail Music Festival (late June through early August, the longest-running summer classical festival in Vail) and Vail Dance Festival (late July through early August) drive board, donor, and benefactor dinners hosting visiting artists, conductors, and choreographers. Vail Symposium speaker-series dinners and GoPro Mountain Games sponsor hospitality round out the summer calendar. Festival-week hosting books 3-6 months ahead.
Yes — confidentiality clauses and NDAs are standard for our Vail work. PE and finance partner retreats (a meaningful annual category running shoulder seasons), multi-generational family-compound hosting, festival patron dinners with named visiting artists, and high-discretion family-office hosting all routinely involve discretion requirements. Tell us your standards and we'll execute accordingly.
Yes — this is one of the most common multi-night residency considerations. Gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free, vegan, anti-inflammatory and recovery-focused (a Vail specialty given the active-recreation cohort), high-protein performance-aligned, increasingly GLP-1-aware planning, and complex layered restrictions are all standard. For multi-night stays we run a dietary-questionnaire phase upfront and design parallel menus where needed — a single dinner can land plated three different ways for a household where one guest is doing recovery-focused, another is keto, and a third has a dairy-and-tree-nut allergy.
Yes — this is a defining Vail private-chef skill. Vacation-rental kitchens here range from genuinely professional (some Forest Road residences have full chef-spec setups) to dramatically undersized (peak-season holiday rentals where the kitchen was an afterthought). We walk the property layout in advance, plan around the actual equipment (or our mobile setup where the property's kitchen falls short), and adjust the menu engineering to what the space can actually execute well rather than improvise on-site.
We serve Vail Village, Lionshead, Forest Road, Cascade Village, East Vail, Bachelor Gulch, Beaver Creek-adjacent residences, and ranch and compound properties extending toward Eagle and Gypsum. Travel across the Vail Valley is built into the All-Inclusive proposal — you won't see distance surcharges added separately. Beaver Creek itself is also part of our footprint — see our Beaver Creek page.
Multi-night residencies run on real life — family arrives a day early, ski day runs late, someone gets a cold, a houseguest count shifts. We build that flexibility in. Daily menus and meal counts can adjust on 24 hours' notice. For larger structural changes (extending the stay, scaling up to a dinner party, adding a second chef for a peak night), we'll re-quote transparently. The goal is the ski week you actually want, not the residency we proposed in September.
