What We Do

A Personal Chef Experience Built Around You

MileHighCook is not a platform or marketplace. When you book a private chef with us, you're working directly with the MileHighCook brand — CIA-trained Executive Chef Steve Ingber oversees every engagement, and every chef on our team is trained to the same standard.

Whether it's an intimate anniversary dinner for two, a weekly meal service for a busy family, or a multi-course dinner party for twenty, the experience is always custom-designed to your tastes, dietary needs, and vision. If you're still deciding between private chef and catering for your event, our side-by-side breakdown walks through cost, format, and the right fit for each.

We handle everything: custom menu design, grocery shopping with premium ingredients, full cooking service in your home, tableside presentation, and complete cleanup. You simply arrive, sit down, and enjoy. Considering a private chef but unsure whether the experience is worth it? We've written a detailed guide on the case for hiring a private chef — covering the cost comparison vs. fine dining, the time you actually save, and the situations where it makes the most sense.

Who It's For

Private Chef Service Is Right For You If…

You're hosting a dinner party and want to actually enjoy your own event
You're celebrating a milestone — anniversary, birthday, proposal — and want it to feel extraordinary
You're a vacation rental guest in Vail, Aspen, Park City, or Scottsdale and want a night in done right
You have specific dietary needs — keto, gluten-free, plant-based, allergen-conscious — and want food that actually tastes exceptional
You're a busy professional who values your time and wants recurring weekly meal service
You want restaurant-quality without the reservation, the parking, or the check at the end of the night
Our Difference

Brand Consistency,
Not a Marketplace

Platforms like TakeAChef or Thumbtack connect you with whoever happens to be available. Quality varies wildly. MileHighCook is different — we are a brand, not a directory. Every chef we place has been trained to our standards and briefed on your event specifically.

CIA-trained Executive Chef Steve Ingber oversees every engagement. When you book MileHighCook, you know what you're getting — every single time.

Frequently Asked

Private Chef Service FAQ

What buyers ask before they pick a market or a date.

What's the difference between a private chef and a personal chef?+
A private chef cooks a single meal or event for you and your guests — one night, one menu, designed around the occasion. A personal chef typically prepares multiple meals at once for a client to reheat through the week. MileHighCook is a private chef service: every booking is a custom menu cooked live in your kitchen for that night.
Do you cook in our home, or do we need a venue?+
We cook in your kitchen — whether that's a home, a vacation rental, a ranch, or a private residence. No venue, no buildout. Before each booking we audit the kitchen (range, oven count, prep space) and bring whatever supplemental equipment closes the gap. If you're booked in a vacation rental, see our vacation rental private chef service for how that workflow runs.
How does pricing work?+
All-inclusive, per-event, scoped from a custom menu. One number on the proposal covers chef and culinary team, ingredients, shopping, prep, cooking, plating, service, equipment, and complete cleanup. No package tiers, no per-item pricing, no surprise add-ons at the end. Pricing scales with guest count, course count, and complexity.
How small or large can a private chef booking be?+
We've cooked dinners for two on a quiet anniversary and dinners for 30 on a family reunion. Below about 8 guests, the format is intimate and the chef cooks solo. Between 8 and 20 we typically add a sous chef or service support depending on course count. Above 20, the format starts to overlap with catering — our comparison page walks through where the line falls.
How far in advance should we book?+
For peak windows — Vail and Aspen ski season, Park City Sundance, Scottsdale spring, Aspen festival weeks — book 2-4 months out. Weeknight bookings outside peak season are routinely available 2-4 weeks ahead, sometimes less. We've built menus and shopped in 24 hours when the calendar allowed. Send the date and we'll tell you within hours whether we can take it.
Do you handle dietary restrictions and allergies?+
Yes — gluten-free, dairy-free, paleo, keto, vegetarian, vegan, and allergen-strict (tree nut, shellfish, soy, sesame) are all standard. For severe allergies we bring our own cutting boards and pans for cross-contamination control. Multi-regimen tables (one vegan guest among omnivores, one Celiac among regular eaters) are routine; we design the menu so the restricted guest gets a thoughtful meal, not a side-table version of dinner.
Who is the chef on our event?+
Steve Ingber is the Executive Chef and owner — CIA-trained, the named chef on the brand, and the person who designs every menu personally. Many bookings are cooked by Steve himself; others are cooked by a vetted partner chef from our network executing the menu Steve built. Either way, Steve stays on the proposal and the menu design, the standard is the same, and you'll know who's cooking before you confirm.
What's the booking process from inquiry to dinner?+
Send your date, guest count, location, and any dietary or occasion notes through the inquiry form. Within 24 hours you'll get a custom proposal: suggested menu, all-inclusive number, and a brief on the kitchen and logistics. If we're a fit, you confirm and we handle the rest — sourcing, prep, service, cleanup. Most bookings finalize in two or three exchanges.
