Private Chef in Utah·A Local Lens

Private Chef in Utah
one chef and one standard, from the Wasatch Front to red rock country

Utah is not one market, it is three. The Wasatch Front is year-round residential. Salt Lake City, Provo and Ogden households host dinner parties for 8 to 20 and executive client dinners at home. The ski corridor runs on residencies, where a chef cooks breakfast through dinner for a family staying a week or longer in Park City, Deer Valley or Sundance. Red rock country, Moab to St. George, runs on vacation rentals and its own calendar.

Most private chefs work one of those three. We work all of them, which is the point of hiring us rather than a chef in each town. The same kitchen standard, the same all-inclusive number, the same proposal turnaround, whether the address is in Holladay or a rental at Empire Pass.

Active Utah markets include Salt Lake City, Provo and Ogden on the Wasatch Front. Park City, Deer Valley, Sundance and Heber City in the ski corridor. Moab, St. George, Springdale and Kanab in the south. Travel inside Utah is included in the quote, never billed on top.

One Chef,
Eleven Utah Markets

We cook in your home, your rental, or your venue. Not in a banquet hall. Menus are designed around what your guests want to eat, sourced from Utah producers where the season allows, and cooked in the kitchen you are already in. Wine pairings are calibrated to your cellar, or to a full alcohol-free pairing program, which in Utah is a specialty rather than an afterthought.

On the Wasatch Front that usually means a dinner party for 8 to 20, a holiday run from Thanksgiving through New Year, or ongoing weekly meal prep. In the ski corridor it is more often a residency: breakfast through dinner for a family staying a week, with the guest count changing as people come and go.

A 12-guest holiday dinner in Holladay. A Sundance week residency at Empire Pass. A wedding in Springdale. A tasting menu in Deer Valley. A standing weekly meal prep in Provo.

Wasatch Front Dinners, Ski Residencies & Everything Between

01

In-Home Dinner Party

Dinner parties for 8 to 20 in your own kitchen. The dominant format on the Wasatch Front, where Salt Lake City, Holladay, Provo and Ogden households host at home rather than out. Executive client dinners and milestone celebrations. Recurring monthly arrangements are common.

8-20 Guests
02

Ski Week & Sundance Residencies

Christmas week, Presidents' Week and the Sundance Film Festival drive the ski corridor calendar. Breakfast through dinner for a family or a production house staying a week or longer at Empire Pass, The Colony, Deer Valley or Sundance. Vegan, gluten-free and kosher menus in parallel on the same table are standard, not exceptions.

Ski Season Peak
03

Weddings, Milestones & Red Rock Retreats

Tasting-menu dinners for anniversaries and milestone birthdays, wedding weekends in Springdale, Moab and the Heber Valley, and multi-day retreat hosting in vacation rentals from Castle Valley to Entrada. Kosher and halal preparation handled internally rather than outsourced.

Every Menu, Custom-Built From Scratch

These are starting points, not packages. Most caterers and private chefs lock you into a small set of pre-built menus. We don't. Every MileHighCook menu is designed around your guests, your venue, your season, and your story. The dishes below are inspirations — what we might build for you.

Wagyu New York
Mountain Steakhouse, Elevated

Wagyu New York

Dry-aged Wagyu, charred allium purée, smoked bone marrow jus, root-vegetable hash.

Hokkaido Scallop Crudo

Pricing is per event and all inclusive. It covers chef time, all ingredients, prep, cooking, service, and cleanup, and it does not change after the fact. Rates scale with guest count, course count, parallel dietary menus, wine pairing complexity, and specialty asks such as kosher, halal, or dry aged steak. Dinners start at $150 per person. Travel anywhere inside Utah is built into the quote rather than billed on top, so a Moab date and a Salt Lake City date are quoted the same way.
Eleven. On the Wasatch Front: Salt Lake City, Provo and Ogden. In the ski corridor: Park City, Deer Valley, Sundance and Heber City. In the south: Moab, St. George, Springdale and Kanab. If your address is in Utah and not on that list, ask anyway. We usually cover it.
Yes, and that is the reason to hire one chef rather than a different one in each town. Same kitchen standard, same all inclusive number, same 24 hour proposal turnaround, whether the kitchen is in Holladay or a rental at Empire Pass. What changes is the format, not the standard.
The Wasatch Front is year round and residential. Dinner parties for 8 to 20 and executive client dinners at home are a regular pattern, and recurring monthly arrangements are common. The ski corridor runs on residencies, where a chef cooks breakfast through dinner for a family staying a week or longer and the guest count shifts as people come and go. Southern Utah runs on vacation rentals with its own calendar: Moab peaks in spring and fall, St. George peaks October through April.
Chef time, all ingredients, prep, cooking, plating, professional table service when the group needs staffing, equipment and rentals when needed, travel anywhere in Utah, and full cleanup of the kitchen. Groceries are billed at cost. One number, given before anything is booked, with nothing added afterward.
Yes. Gluten free, dairy free, nut free, vegan, kosher, halal, anti inflammatory, GLP-1 aware planning, high protein, functional medicine and longevity focused, and complex layered restrictions across one table are all standard. Tell us the restrictions when you inquire and the menu is built around them from the start rather than adapted at the end.
Yes, both, and they are recurring work for us rather than an exception. Sundance week in Park City routinely puts vegan, gluten free, kosher and dairy free menus on the same table. Halal sourcing is arranged through the same supply chains. Tell us your standard of observance and we will match it.
Yes, routinely. Executive home hosting, family office hosting, and the Park City festival and resort calendar all bring discretion requirements, and we execute to whatever standard you set. In some resort markets an NDA is the default rather than the exception.
November and December are the largest entertaining window on the Wasatch Front, and Christmas week is the first ski corridor date to go. Thanksgiving family hosting, Hanukkah dinners, December client dinners, multi night Christmas gatherings, and New Year's Eve. Park City and Deer Valley holiday dates book first, so mid October is the honest booking deadline for Christmas week.
Common, and we structure it as a standing agreement. A defined cadence, usually one or two evenings a month or a weekly meal prep cycle, a household profile so we can shop ahead, and simplified billing. The benefit is that the chef learns your cellar, your guests, and what your household actually eats, so each round needs less direction than the last.
It comes down to guest count, occasion, where the meal happens, and how much the live cooking matters. Dinners at home almost always lean private chef. Larger events past about fifty guests, weddings, and corporate functions at outside venues usually lean catering. We do both, so the answer is not a sales question. Tell us the event and we will tell you which one fits.
A private chef cooks and serves a specific meal or a run of meals while you are there. A personal chef more often means an ongoing arrangement, typically weekly meal prep stocked in your fridge. Both are the same chef and the same kitchen standard, and plenty of clients use both across a year.
Yes, and celebrations are a large share of what we cook: birthdays, anniversaries, engagements, graduations and showers. For a seated group we run a plated multi course dinner. Past about twenty guests we usually shift to family style or stations so the room stays social. From $150 per person, all inclusive.
Yes, and in Utah it is a specialty rather than a workaround. A meaningful share of upper tier hosting here is alcohol free by preference. The pairing program runs artisan shrubs, house made syrups, non alcoholic spirits and tea pairings, built with the same rigor as a wine list. Tell us at inquiry and the menu is designed around it from the start.
Send the date, the guest count, the town, and anything you already know through the form on this page. We reply the same day, usually with a short call to scope the menu, and you have a written proposal within 24 hours. The menu is customized until it fits, and your date is held once the proposal is accepted.
