Crested Butte Catering
for Colorado's wildflower capital and most distinctive ski town

Crested Butte is the smallest of the major Colorado luxury ski markets — and the most distinctive in character. Wildflower capital of Colorado, longtime hippie/counterculture roots overlaid with significant UHNW residential investment. The Eleven Experience portfolio (Scarp Ridge Lodge, Taylor River Lodge) represents the highest-end private hosting tier — exclusive-buyout luxury chalets that anchor the top of the market. Mt. Crested Butte (9,400 ft) is the resort base; the historic town (8,900 ft) is the cultural center. Crested Butte Wildflower Festival (mid-July, 10 days) is one of the most spectacular wildflower blooms in the West and a destination event in itself. Crested Butte Music Festival (mid-July through mid-August), Wine and Food Festival, and Vinotok Festival in mid-September anchor the summer-fall calendar.

MileHighCook caters across Mt. Crested Butte ski-in/ski-out homes (Anthracite Place, slopeside residences), historic town Victorians, and ranch properties extending into the East River valley toward Crested Butte South and Almont. Crested Butte's smaller scale means everyone in hospitality knows everyone — local relationships matter more than in larger markets. Sourcing is challenging (4 hours from Denver, with Grand Junction or Gunnison routing for specialty ingredients) and we plan ingredient lead times accordingly. The wildflower-meadow aesthetic drives a distinctive Texas and Midwest wedding market. Request a custom proposal →

Restaurant-Level Catering,
Locavore-Leaning Sensibility

MileHighCook's Crested Butte catering covers every detail — from custom menu design and Grand Junction/Gunnison Valley sourcing (regional bison, Gunnison Valley produce, regional dairy) to full kitchen execution at Mt. Crested Butte slopeside residences and East River valley ranch lodges, professional service staff, equipment rentals when needed, and complete post-event cleanup. The Crested Butte ethic favors locavore-leaning specifically — clients here are often sophisticated about regional sourcing and lean comfort-elevated rather than tasting-menu-driven, with increasingly plant-forward menus during summer wildflower season.

Whether you're hosting a 100-guest wildflower-meadow wedding at a private estate, a 50-guest Crested Butte Music Festival patron dinner, a 30-guest Eleven Experience-adjacent private event during a Scarp Ridge Lodge buyout week, or a 60-guest Texas-family Christmas residency with multiple service days, our All-Inclusive approach means one transparent quote with no hidden add-ons. We work in private homes, the Public House, Trinity Hall, Crested Butte Mountain Resort venues, and ranch properties throughout Gunnison County.

Wildflower-season weddings (mid-July through early August) are the highest-demand window and book 9-15 months ahead. Crested Butte Music Festival patron dinners (mid-July through mid-August) book 4-8 months ahead. Christmas-New Year and Presidents' Week ski residencies book 6-12 months out. Vinotok Festival (mid-September) and Crested Butte Film Festival (late September) are smaller events that book 3-5 months ahead. The earlier you start, the more flexibility on chef availability and Grand Junction/Gunnison sourcing.
Mt. Crested Butte slopeside residences (Anthracite Place, ski-in homes) are core venues for our work. The Eleven Experience properties (Scarp Ridge Lodge, Taylor River Lodge) typically run their own in-property hosting during exclusive buyouts — we operate adjacent to that, executing private events at off-Eleven private homes during buyout weeks when guests want hosting beyond the lodge programming. Historic town Victorian estates and East River valley ranch properties are also regular venues.
Our All-Inclusive proposal covers chef and culinary team, all ingredients and Grand Junction/Gunnison Valley sourcing (regional bison, Gunnison Valley produce, regional dairy), prep, cooking, plating, professional table service (servers, bartenders, attendants), equipment and rental needs, travel into Crested Butte and across Gunnison County (4-hour Denver lead time built in for sourcing), and complete post-event cleanup. No hidden fees or surcharges.
The historic town sits at 8,900 ft; Mt. Crested Butte at 9,400 ft. Altitude materially changes baking technique and protein cooking timing — less dramatically than Breckenridge but more than Aspen or Vail. Our chef team is trained on altitude-adjusted technique. The bigger logistical factor is weather: summer afternoon thunderstorms factor into outdoor wildflower-meadow event planning, and winter access via Highway 135 can be reduced during major storms. We build weather contingency into proposals.
Crested Butte is 4 hours from Denver. Specialty ingredients require advance planning via Grand Junction or Gunnison supply chains. We know the producers and distributors that consistently deliver to Crested Butte, plan ingredient lead times accordingly, and maintain locavore relationships with regional Gunnison Valley producers. Local bison and Gunnison Valley produce are sourcing strengths we lean into.
Yes. Plant-forward demand has grown materially in Crested Butte — the counterculture roots of the town persist, and clients here often expect locavore-obsessive sourcing alongside the comfort-elevated register that dominates the market. Anti-inflammatory and performance-focused menus are also common given the strong MTB and ski-and-cycling community. We can execute fully-vegan tasting menus when called for.
Yes. Gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free, vegan, kosher-style, anti-inflammatory, performance-focused (the MTB and endurance-athlete cohort runs strong here), GLP-1-aware, and complex layered restrictions are all standard. We confirm every dietary requirement during the questionnaire phase and design parallel menus when needed.
Yes. Crested Butte Land Trust conservation philanthropy events are a year-round circuit, and Center for the Arts patron hosting drives a parallel cultural calendar. Conservation philanthropy aligns naturally with the locavore sourcing approach we bring — many Land Trust-affiliated clients specifically value menu programming that reflects the regional-producer ethic the Trust supports.
We serve Mt. Crested Butte slopeside, the historic Crested Butte town, Anthracite Place, Crested Butte South, Almont, and ranch properties throughout the East River valley. Travel and ranch-distance logistics are built into the All-Inclusive proposal — you won't see Gunnison County distance surcharges added separately.
Reschedules are handled case-by-case. Generally: 90+ days out, full deposit transfers to the new date with no penalty. 30-90 days, partial transfer with re-stocking adjustment. Less than 30 days, depends on date availability and Grand Junction/Gunnison sourcing already in motion. Wildflower-week and Music Festival reschedules are particularly tight given the demand window.
